SHEFFIELD & DISTRICT SOCIETY OF MODEL & EXPERIMENTAL ENGINEERS

The Sheffield Club is based to the south of Sheffield at Abbeydale.

There is a dual gauge 5″ / 7 1/4″ gauge ground level track, and a multi gauge elevated track – 7 1/4″, 5″ and 3 1/2″. both of these tracks are made with Cromar White 27mm hot rolled steel rail and re-cycled plastic sleepers.

At the last count the club have nine Cromar White sit astride coaches fitted with vacuum braking.

The photograph above shows Mick Savage’s (track superintendent for SSMEE) General Electric U25B battery powered diesel outline locomotive (built by Cromar White) pulling three loaded sit astride coaches.

 


City of Oxford Society of Model Engineers

The Oxford club have both a raised tack and ground level and use Cromar White 27mm hot rolled steel rail. They have six Cromar White sit astride coaches and a wheelchair coach finished in Oxford blue.
